Brazil's health authority has announced that it would not recommend importing Sputnik V, the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Russia, the vaccine’s Russian backers threatened legal action for defamation and the Brazilian officials released recordings and documents supporting their position.

The trials will be carried out in the Moscow Region and some 20,000 - 30,000 people will get the vaccine.

Russia has become the first to approve a COVID-19 vaccine, developed by the Gamaleya Institute in Moscow, with production and tens of thousands of inoculations to follow, President Vladimir Putin announced Tuesday.
