At the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the substantive development of relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Japan's Liberal Democratic Party, as well as the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Minister Le Hoai Trung congratulated Japan and the Liberal Democratic Party on their important achievements in recent years. He affirmed that, following the success of Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's visit to Vietnam last May, the current visit by the LDP high-level delegation is of great importance, contributing positively to the development of relations between the two ruling parties and bilateral cooperation in the upcoming time.

Sharing information on the 14th National Party Congress, Vietnam's foreign policy orientation, and its future growth model, Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that, amid the increasingly complex regional and international situation, Vietnam continues to regard Japan as an important partner and wishes to further deepen the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

For his part, Acting Secretary-General Hagiuda Koichi congratulated Vietnam on the successful organization of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and highly appreciated the determination of Vietnam's new leadership to advance administrative reform, implement local government restructuring, and pursue the goal of becoming a high-income developed country by 2045.

He said he was pleased to return to Vietnam three years after his previous visit in 2023, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, when he served as Chairman of the LDP Policy Research Council. He also expressed his impression of Vietnam's socio-economic achievements and emphasized the importance of effective exchanges and cooperation between the two parties based on the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2015.

Noting that Vietnam-Japan relations still have ample room for further development, Minister Le Hoai Trung proposed that the two sides further strengthen mutual understanding and consolidate political trust through high-level visits and exchanges; enhance cooperation between agencies of the two parties; promote the implementation of commitments and agreements reached by senior leaders of the two countries, particularly those in the fields of economy, science and technology, and education and training agreed upon during Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's visit to Vietnam last May; and continue to strengthen coordination, share positions, cooperate, and support each other on regional and international issues.

On this occasion, Minister Le Hoai Trung invited the Japanese Government and leaders of Japanese localities to send representatives to attend the Second Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum, scheduled to take place in Hue City in early September 2026. He also proposed that the Liberal Democratic Party continue to pay attention to and adopt policies that ensure a fair and favorable living and working environment for the 700,000-strong Vietnamese community in Japan.

Agreeing with Minister Le Hoai Trung's proposals, Acting Secretary-General Hagiuda affirmed that he would continue to promote substantive implementation of key areas of cooperation between the Liberal Democratic Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam, as well as further deepen bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of digital transformation, green transition, and energy security, through the effective implementation of Japan's initiatives, including the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) and the Partnership on Wide Energy and Resources Resilience Asia (POWERR Asia).

Vietnam, Japan Cooperate Over National Defense General Phan Van Giang, member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Vietnamese Minister of National Defense presided over an official welcoming ceremony and held talks with Japanese Minister of Defense Kihara Minoru on August 6 in Hanoi.

Vietnam, Japan Step Up Defence Friendship, Cooperation Deputy Defence Minister, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Pham Hoai Nam hosted a delegation of officers from the Ministry of Defence, the Self-Defence Forces, and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) of Japan, in Hanoi on November 4.
