The Norwegian Seafood Council in collaboration with its local partner organised the first-ever Norwegian Seafood Day in Vietnam at Vincom Mega Mall Times City in Hanoi on June 3, NDO reported Sunday.

The Norwegian Seafood Council was focused on introducing the value of the world-famous "Seafood from Norway" trademark as well as other associated values, developed by the Norwegian Seafood Council to the Vietnamese consumers through the Seafood Day.

Attending the event, the Norwegian Ambassador to Vietnam, Hilde Solbakken and professional chefs directly participated in processing and cooking from the top-class Norwegian salmon, so that customers can admire and experience the world-class dishes.

According to Dr. Asbjorn Warvik Rortveit, Norwegian Seafood Council’s Regional Director for Southeast Asia, the festival not only focused on introducing the value of the world-famous "Seafood from Norway" trademark but also aimed to contribute to fostering Vietnam-Norway partnership.

In May 2021, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Norway and Vietnam, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries of Norway and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam already signed a Letter of Intent with aims to strengthen and develop co-operation in the marine aquaculture industry.

However, due to Covid-19, the two countries have not been able to implement cooperation activities according to the content of the Letter of Intent.

In March, a seminar themed ‘Vietnam – Norway: Co-operation opportunities in aquaculture and seafood export’ was held in Hanoi to discuss, exchange and concretize cooperation opportunities mentioned in the Letter of Intent, specifically in the large-scale marine aquaculture and seafood industry.
