Blessed with endless tea hills, countless waterfalls, and pine forests, Moc Chau (Son La province) is no stranger to those who love travel and nature. In Spring, the province welcomes even more tourists to admire its fairytale-like flower hills.

Mu Nau, a plum valley in Moc Chau, is called "the muse" of the Northwest. Belonging to sub-zone 13 of Moc Chau, Mu Nau is close to the center of the town. However, due to the steep and winding road, Mu Nau is little known to tourists.

To get to the valley, drive from the hill behind the headquarters of the Moc Chau's Party Committee and People's Committee, then follow a 2-km-long steep around the hills. On Google Maps, the place is referred to as "Karaoke Pho Nui". To avoid getting lost, it is highly recommended that you have a local guide or someone who is familiar with the location.

Plum flower season in Mu Nau lasts from the first to the second Lunar month. Depending on the weather, the blooming season may come sooner or later. Plum trees in Moc Chau are often planted in one area, not scattered around the hills or small gardens like many other provinces. Therefore, when the blooming season comes, the valley becomes a farytale-like "white paradise."

Every year in the plum blossom season, the whole valley is covered with "white carpets" of plum blossoms, listing up the whole scenery. The valley has a total area of over 200 hectares, including primeval forests and ancient plum gardens, some of over 40 years old.

For those who love trekking, try to walk from Mu Nau to Na Ka. The route is about 10km long and leads you through the old forest to explore the landscape, and admire the wonderful flowers along the way. Make sure you bring enough food, water and warm clothes and have a local guide to avoid getting lost.

Although it takes a lot of time, the trekking route brings many interesting experiences when you can admire the majestic and wild scenery, immerse yourself in the peaceful space and conquer an impressive 1,500m high destination after persistent efforts.

If you could not come to the valley in time for the bloom season, then the fruiting months are worth a visit, too. When all the flowers fall off, the valley enters the fruiting season, which lasts from April to May. During these two months, visitors can join fruit-picking activities and enjoy plum products such as plum jam, plum wine, and plum syrup.
