Hanoi Receives Approximately VND 74 Billion for “For the Poor” Fund in 2026
The 2026 “Joining hands for the poor and social welfare” program honored organizations and businesses that have made substantial contributions to social welfare in Hanoi.

The program was organized in response to the “For the poor - Leaving no one behind” emulation movement launched by the Prime Minister. It aims to uphold the tradition of solidarity and mutual assistance while mobilizing resources to support authorities and sectors at all levels in improving people’s lives and ensuring social welfare.

Opening the program, Chairwoman of the Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front of Hanoi Bui Huyen Mai emphasized that, upholding the nation’s traditions of solidarity, compassion and mutual assistance, the city has consistently prioritized social welfare policies and people’s well-being, particularly for near-poor households, families facing exceptional hardship and vulnerable people. With the engagement of the entire political system and support from the business community and people from all walks of life, efforts to mobilize resources and care for the poor have delivered tangible results. Hanoi currently has no poor households under the national multidimensional poverty standards.

Since 2025, the municipal “For the poor” Fund has mobilized and received more than VND 116 billion, while commune- and ward-level funds have received over VND 126 billion. These resources have supported the construction and repair of 1,325 Great Unity houses; the provision of livelihood equipment and means of transport; assistance with medical examinations, treatment and education; and the distribution of thousands of gifts to near-poor households and families facing exceptional hardship during holidays and Tet.

According to Bui Huyen Mai, the capital’s development is reflected not only in its economic achievements and modern infrastructure but also in people’s quality of life and the care and support extended to those still facing difficulties.

She expressed confidence that the program would continue to inspire acts of kindness, mobilize additional resources from society and bring opportunities, confidence and hope to disadvantaged people. Every contribution, however large or small, is a meaningful act of generosity that helps bring more opportunities, confidence and hope to those in need.

The municipal Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front pledged to receive, manage and use all contributions openly, transparently, promptly and effectively, for their intended purposes and beneficiaries, ensuring that every act of generosity translates into practical assistance for people.

According to the Hanoi Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, as of 5 p.m. on October 26, 2026, the organizers had received approximately VND 74 billion from organizations, businesses and individual benefactors. This reflected the community’s strong support for poverty reduction and social welfare efforts, while further demonstrating the reach of the “The whole nation joins hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind” movement across the capital.

During the program, 12 organizations received certificates of merit from the Hanoi Party Committee, and 14 received certificates of merit from the Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee for their contributions to the “For Viet Nam’s seas and islands” Fund. Another 19 organizations were commended for collecting donations, mobilizing resources, making contributions and providing relief to people directly affected by natural disasters in 2025. Twenty outstanding organizations and businesses were also honored for their substantial contributions to social welfare.

The organizers also provided livelihood assistance through the Viet Nam Fatherland Front committees of 30 communes and wards, helping near-poor and disadvantaged households develop production and business activities and increase their incomes.
