Global Assistance Brings Hope to Flood-Affected Areas in Vietnam
	International Organizations Provide Emergency Aid To Disaster-Hit Localities In Vietnam

According to the UK-based news agency Reuters, citing a report from the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the death toll from flooding and landslides in central Vietnam has risen to 55, with 13 people still missing as of the morning of November 22. Rainfall in several areas exceeded 1,900 mm in just one week, an unusually high level even for a region that frequently faces natural disasters. The agency further noted that this area is not only a key hub for Vietnam’s coffee production and tourism, but also one that is regularly exposed to powerful storms and major floods.

From Europe, Germany’s DW quoted Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung as saying that local authorities had mobilised the full capacities of military, police and security forces to evacuate residents from dangerous areas. Various specialised vehicles, from boats and ships to helicopters, were deployed to reach communities isolated by major flooding.

Singapore’s Channel NewsAsia reported that rescue teams had to reach households one by one, even breaking windows or roofs to save those trapped inside.

In Australia, ABC News on November 22 rebroadcast footage captured by VTV1, showing overnight evacuations and the tireless efforts of rescue forces despite adverse weather conditions.

International media outlets have unanimously praised Vietnam’s swift and determined response to the disaster. The Government has approved an emergency relief package worth VND 700 billion for the hardest-hit provinces, while the Vietnam Fatherland Front system at all levels had mobilised more than VND 2.8 trillion as of noon on November 22 to help affected communities recover.

Numerous international media outlets and organisations have highlighted Vietnam’s timely response, close direction and effective mobilisation and coordination of forces during the latest disaster. According to major news agencies, this demonstrates Vietnam’s strong disaster-response capacity, solidarity and commitment to safeguarding its people amid the increasingly severe impacts of climate change.

Alongside domestic efforts, international media also noted the swift support from the global community. The U.S.-based magazine The Diplomat reported that UNICEF, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), and partners from the United States, the EU, Japan, South Korea and Australia have deployed emergency assistance, including essential supplies, financial resources and personnel, to the hardest-hit areas. The coordination between the Vietnamese Government and international organisations has been assessed as flexible, timely and delivering tangible benefits for communities in flood-affected regions.
