Lazada appoints current Thailand CEO to head Vietnam operations
Southeast Asian ecommerce platform Lazada has appointed James Dong to serve as CEO of its Vietnam unit, in addition to his current role as chief executive of Lazada Thailand.

In the role, Dong taking over from Max Zhang, who will still remain a part of Alibaba Group, which owns Lazada.
The ecommerce player expects the move to accelerate its growth in Vietnam and enable more cross-country collaborations, including bringing the livestreaming and entertainment features from Lazada Thailand to Vietnam.
“Vietnam continues to present a huge opportunity for Lazada,” Dong said in a statement. “I am confident that we will win in the market by engaging a young population, leveraging the quick pace of trends and through continuous application of our strong technology and logistics foundation.”
