Vietnam Marks 80th National Day with Gratitude to International Friends

In a letter sent to President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son, President of the Korea-Vietnam Friendship Association (KOVIFA) Lee Shin Jae wrote that "witnessing the historic event directly at Ba Dinh Square was a great honor." He was deeply impressed by the scale of the ceremony, the magnificent parade, and the thoughtful, flawless organization, while being moved by the spirit of solidarity and pride that radiated throughout the event.
He also highly appreciated the significance of the meeting to tribute international friends, affirming that the stories shared by representatives from many countries around the world at the event were truly inspiring. He stated: "I will certainly share the warmth and generosity you have shown me with all the members of KOVIFA. We are proud to accompany the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations in promoting friendship and cooperation between our two countries."

Minister of Technology and Communications of Laos and President of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association Boviengkham Vongdara expressed his deep emotion and strong impression of Vietnam’s comprehensive growth, the firm solidarity of its people, and the rich cultural identity reflected in the parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam National Day at Ba Dinh Square on September 2.
Chairwoman of the Judiciary Committee of the National Assembly and Vice President of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association Thoummaly Vongphachanh admired the scale and professionalism of the commemorative activities. She highly valued the comprehensive, colorful, and emotional success of the program, emphasizing that every activity was meticulously and systematically organized without any shortcomings, demonstrating the thorough preparation and high sense of responsibility of the Organizing Committee.
Advisor to the Prime Minister and Vice President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association Vann Phal was moved by the image of tens of thousands of people in red attire, holding national flags along the streets to celebrate the 80th Independence Day, reflecting national solidarity and the aspiration for unity. He also appreciated the display of modern weapons at the national achievements exhibition, which demonstrated the ability to firmly defend sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as Vietnam’s growing defense capacity. The presence of international guests at the event, he stressed, was also evidence of the deep cooperation and support of international friends for Vietnam. All of this shows that Vietnam is not only strong in military and economic terms but also steadfast in its peaceful and friendly stance with neighboring countries. According to him, the reception was thoughtful, respectful, and professional, reflecting Vietnam’s increasingly high position on the international stage.

Chinese delegates also expressed their honor and strong impression of Vietnam’s achievements over 80 years of nation-building and development. Liu Honglin, Secretary of Nam Khe Son Hospital, said that his visits to the Vietnam History Museum and Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh Province) provided a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s history, land, and people. Zhang Weiwei, representative of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), affirmed the desire to "further strengthen cooperation, promote the traditional comradely and brotherly friendship," and to accompany Vietnam on the path of modernization. Representatives from Guangxi University and the Exhibition House on President Ho Chi Minh also praised the professionalism and dedication in organizing the event, while expressing hopes to expand cooperation in culture, education, and science and technology.
Thai delegates noted that the National Day celebration and the meeting to tribute international friends were meaningful occasions to recall the historic milestones of Vietnam’s struggle for independence, while also showing respect and gratitude for the companionship and support of international friends. The delegation highly appreciated the thoughtful, hospitable, and professional organization of the events and was especially impressed by the visit to the National History Museum, which provided deep insights into the heroic nation-building and defense process of the Vietnamese people.
Executive Committee member of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association Niizuma Toichi described the event as "an extremely special experience and a great honor in my life." He was touched by the sight of people waiting on both sides of the streets from early morning to watch the parade, reflecting patriotism and national pride. He also acknowledged the warm welcome from Quang Ninh Province, along with the dedicated and thoughtful support of the staff of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, which enabled him to fully participate in the activities and deeply experience the solemn yet friendly atmosphere of the event.
