At the meeting, Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing welcomed the successful organization of the 10th meeting of the Joint Commission, describing it as a timely step that would help bring bilateral relations into a new phase. Affirming that Myanmar always attaches importance to its traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, which were laid by President Ho Chi Minh and General Aung San, President Min Aung Hlaing expressed his confidence that the outcomes of the meeting would provide further momentum for the two countries to develop stronger, more substantive and deeper cooperation.

According to the Myanmar President, the two sides should increase exchanges of visits and high-level and other-level contacts through Party, State, Government and parliamentary channels; step up people-to-people exchanges and local-level cooperation; and create breakthroughs in defense, economic, trade and investment cooperation.

President Min Aung Hlaing said political cooperation between the two countries has continued to develop well, while economic cooperation has declined significantly compared with the period before the COVID-19 pandemic. Bilateral trade turnover fell from USD 853 million in 2020 to USD 590 million in 2025, reaching USD 335 million in the first six months of 2026. As of June 30, Vietnam had 107 valid investment projects in Myanmar, with total registered capital of USD 1.4 billion.

Emphasizing that Myanmar has always supported Vietnamese enterprises, including Mytel, President Min Aung Hlaing affirmed that Myanmar would continue to improve mechanisms and policies and create more favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to feel secure in investing and doing business in Myanmar, particularly in telecommunications, education and training, agriculture, food processing, logistics, digital transformation, and science and technology.

Regarding regional and international issues, President Min Aung Hlaing thanked Vietnam for its support for Myanmar in ASEAN cooperation and international mechanisms. He affirmed that Myanmar would continue to closely coordinate with Vietnam and other ASEAN countries to maintain ASEAN centrality in the regional and international architecture.

For his part, Minister Le Hoai Trung congratulated President Min Aung Hlaing on the positive results achieved after more than 100 days of leading and administering the country. The Minister affirmed that Vietnam supports Myanmar in continuing to implement measures to promote stability, reconciliation, dialogue and economic development, ensure security and safety, and improve people's living standards.

To create breakthroughs in economic, trade and investment cooperation, Minister Le Hoai Trung proposed that the two sides study the establishment of mechanisms to facilitate cooperation and create favorable conditions for businesses. Vietnam also proposed that Myanmar consider policies to support Vietnamese enterprises in expanding investment, leveraging their strengths, creating jobs and increasing long-term revenues for Myanmar.

The Minister also proposed that the two countries study the development of a Vietnam–Myanmar Digital Transformation Program. Initially, the two sides would select a number of practical projects for pilot implementation, evaluate their effectiveness, and gradually expand them.

At the meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the USDP Khin Yi, Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to its traditional friendship and Comprehensive Cooperation Partnership with Myanmar. Minister Le Hoai Trung said Vietnam wishes to work with Myanmar to consolidate the political foundation and strengthen mutual trust in the new period through cooperation across all Party, State and parliamentary channels, as well as people-to-people exchanges.

The two countries share many cultural and historical similarities, and the close ties between their peoples have been established and nurtured by generations of leaders. The Minister said the Communist Party of Vietnam and the USDP still have considerable potential for cooperation, particularly in sharing experience in national construction and development and overcoming economic, trade and investment difficulties. He affirmed that Vietnam consistently supports a peaceful, stable, unified and developing Myanmar.

Chairman Khin Yi congratulated Vietnam on its major achievements during the Doi Moi process, while expressing his desire to learn from Vietnam's experience in policy formulation, socio-economic management, institution building, training and human resource development, international integration, and attracting foreign resources for development.

Minister Le Hoai Trung shared Vietnam's experience over 40 years of Doi Moi and international integration, including strategic decisions adopted by the Communist Party of Vietnam at its 14th National Party Congress.

Highly appreciating the contributions of the Myanmar Parliament and the USDP to relations between the two countries, the Minister emphasized that cooperation between legislative bodies and political parties plays an important role in consolidating the political foundation and enhancing mutual understanding and trust. He proposed that the two sides maintain contacts and exchanges of delegations at all levels and share experience in Party building, State building, governance and national development.

The Minister also highly valued Myanmar's establishment of the Myanmar-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, considering it a foundation for promoting friendship exchanges between the peoples of the two countries.

Also on the morning of August 26, Minister Le Hoai Trung and Myanmar Foreign Minister Tin Maung Swe co-chaired the 10th meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, attended by representatives of ministries and sectors from both countries. The two sides reviewed the progress of cooperation across various fields since the 9th meeting in March 2019, while affirming that holding this meeting was necessary and timely, helping set out specific orientations and create new momentum for the Comprehensive Cooperation Partnership.

The Myanmar Foreign Minister affirmed that the Myanmar Government would create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to feel secure in doing business and expanding investment, particularly in areas where Myanmar has demand, such as telecommunications, education and training, agriculture and food processing.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the foreign ministers of the two countries signed the Agreed Minutes and agreed to hold the 11th meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation in Vietnam in 2027.

Nearly VND 400 million Donated to Support Myanmar Deal with Earthquake Consequences On April 17, in Hanoi, the Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association delegation, led by its President, Chu Cong Phung, visited the Myanmar Embassy to Vietnam to present nearly VND 400 million to support the people of Myanmar to overcome the consequences of the March 28 earthquake.
