Vietnam to hold a day of national mourning for Fidel Castro
(VNF) - Vietnam is going to hold a day of national mourning for Fidel Castro on December 4th to express condolences and gratitude to the revolutionary leader of Cuba, who passed away on November 25th.

The decision was made by the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee basing on the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.
On the date, all institutions across Vietnam and representative agencies of the country in foreign nations are required to hang flags at half-mast and wear mourning bands.
Public entertainment activities will also be restricted, officials said in a statement.
Fidel Castro, who was Commander-in-chief of the Cuban revolution, former First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee (CPC), and former President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers, died on November 25th night (Havana time) at the age of 90.
Cuba announced nine days of national mourning for him from November 26th to December 4th. Fidel will be interred in a cemetery in Santiago city on December 4th.
Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Tran Dai Quang, and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also paid tribute to Fidel Castro at the Cuban Embassy in Hanoi on Monday morning (Nov. 28th).

Many delegations of the Vietnamese agencies and localities on November 28th paid tribute to Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro Ruz at the Cuban Embassy in Hanoi and the Cuban Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
Among those who paid homage to Fidel Castro was National Assembly Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien.
Representatives from the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Education and Information, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, along with Cuban students in Hanoi also commemorated the Cuban leader.
A delegation of the Hanoi Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee led by Hoang Trung Hai, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, visited the embassy on this occasion.
“Hanoi will exert every effort to deepen the relations between Vietnam and Cuba, as well as between Hanoi and Havana, thus serving the revolutionary cause in each nation,” he said.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Dinh La Thang, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, paid homage to Fidel Castro at the Cuban Consulate General.
The same day, representatives from the HCM City People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Central Committee, local agencies and organisations, and inpiduals in the city commemorated the Cuban leader./.
