The culture day was attended by First Secretary in charge of educational cooperation and Vietnamese students at the Embassy of Vietnam in Germany Phan Quang Van; Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Vice President of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Germany Nguyen Van Tinh; representatives of Vietnamese associations, along with a large number of Vietnamese students, young people and members of the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Hamburg and many other localities across Germany.

Vietnam Culture Day 2026 featured a lively community programme with artistic performances, traditional costume displays, folk games, interactive cultural activities and Vietnamese cuisine. Through these accessible activities, the organisers hoped to introduce residents and international friends to a Vietnam that is rich in tradition, friendly, dynamic and internationally integrated.

In his opening remarks, First Secretary Phan Quang Van said culture is the soul of the nation, embodying values that have been formed and preserved over thousands of years of history. Among these are patriotism, solidarity, compassion, a strong commitment to learning, diligence and creativity. These values are reflected in the Vietnamese language, the ao dai, traditional music, folk songs, folk games, traditional cuisine and the warm, meaningful way Vietnamese people treat one another.

He stressed that organising a Vietnam Culture Day in Germany not only helps introduce the beauty of Vietnam and its people to international friends, but also enables young Vietnamese living, studying and working abroad to gain a deeper understanding of their roots, thereby preserving and promoting the nation's cultural values. He expressed confidence that activities such as Vietnam Culture Day would further strengthen friendship, mutual understanding and people-to-people ties between Vietnam and Germany.

Vice President of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Germany Nguyen Van Tinh said the event reflected the solidarity, creativity and sense of responsibility of the young Vietnamese generation in Germany towards both the community and their homeland. According to him, activities initiated and organised by Vietnamese students not only help overseas Vietnamese remain closely connected, but also contribute to introducing the fine values of Vietnamese culture to the host society.

Speaking to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Germany, President of the Student Division of the Vietnamese Students' Association in Hamburg Trinh Huyen My said the idea of organising Vietnam Culture Day had long been cherished by members of the association. For young people living far from home, Vietnam always remains their homeland and an important source of spiritual support. Through the event, the organisers hoped to provide an opportunity for the Vietnamese community in Hamburg in particular and Germany in general to meet, strengthen their bonds and better understand one another. It also offered a direct and vivid way to introduce the beauty of Vietnamese culture to international friends.

President of the Vocational Trainee Division of the Vietnamese Students' Association in Hamburg Pham Van Tai said one of the event's key messages was that, despite living far from home, every Vietnamese in Germany is part of a community that is always ready to share, support and accompany one another. In the coming period, the Vietnamese Students' Association in Hamburg plans to expand activities for Vietnamese vocational trainees on a larger scale while gradually developing a common information portal for Vietnamese vocational students throughout Germany.

Beyond introducing Vietnamese culture, the programme also created opportunities for young overseas Vietnamese to take part directly in organising, coordinating, performing and developing the event's content. Through this process, they not only strengthened their capacity for community engagement but also enhanced their awareness of, and responsibility for, preserving and passing on Vietnamese cultural values to future generations.
