10 communes in Hoa Binh province receive post-disaster aid from CARE
(VNF) – 10 communes in Hoa Binh province which were affected by the recent floods have been benefited from CARE International in Vietnam’s aid package.

With the financial support from the Start Fund (whose sponsors include the Ireland and UK governments), CARE in Vietnam has been providing post-disaster supports to 8,675 people in 1,735 households in 10 communes of three communes, Lac Thuy, Yen Thuy and Mai Chau (Hoa Binh province).
The sponsored goods are distributed to affected community via Hoa Binh’s provincial Red Cross Society and its communal branches in the three communes.
The estimated value of the total aid package is VND 3 billion (~USD 130,000), including hygiene packages, mosquito nets, blankets and water filter for affected residents in the 10 communes.

"Hoa Binh is among the flood hardest-hit provinces during the historic flood in early October. Through this aid package, CARE hopes to help the people of Hoa Binh, especially women, who usually suffer the most from the lack of hygienic necessities caused by flooding, to quickly restore their daily life,” said Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, Acting Country Director of CARE International in Vietnam.
According to report from Hoa Binh provincial authorities, the historic flood in early October killed and injured 34 people, submerged over 3,100 houses and destroyed 100% of rice fields, while caused huge damage on other crops.
The flood also swept away 457 hectares of aqua production and thousands of livestock. By October 19th, the total loss had been estimated at over VND 1,600 billion (over USD 70 million)./.
