Ambassador Choi Young Sam Awarded “For Peace and Friendship Among Nations” Medal

According to the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, since assuming his post as Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Viet Nam in July 2023, Ambassador Choi Young Sam has supported the successful organization of activities during the Republic of Korea visits by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh (July 2024) and General Secretary To Lam (August 2025). Among these activities, the “Meeting with Korean friends” program has contributed to strengthening friendship, solidarity, and mutual understanding between the peoples of Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea.

Ambassador Choi Young Sam has also promoted cooperation in education and youth exchanges, while supporting connections among localities, organizations, and businesses in both countries. He has actively advanced delegation exchanges, high-level contacts, and the implementation of bilateral cooperation agreements in politics, economics, culture, education, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son expressed his sincere appreciation to Ambassador Choi Young Sam for his attention to and close cooperation with the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations in carrying out activities to promote Viet Nam-Republic of Korea friendship.

In the coming period, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations will continue expanding people-to-people exchange activities across various fields, encouraging broader participation from different stakeholders, including the Korean community in Viet Nam and the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea. The Viet Nam-Republic of Korea Friendship Association will develop plans to encourage Vietnamese universities offering Korean language programs or Korean studies to join the friendship association network at both the central and local levels.

President Phan Anh Son also expressed his hope for continued close cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korea Foundation in implementing practical and effective people-to-people exchange activities, while further strengthening connections between localities of the two countries.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Choi Young Sam expressed his delight at the strong progress in Viet Nam-Republic of Korea relations in recent years. He noted that bilateral ties have been developing comprehensively across a wide range of fields, with people-to-people exchanges continuing to stand out as one of the highlights of the relationship.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the role of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations in coordinating meetings and dialogues between the senior leaders of the two countries and friendship organizations from Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea. In his view, these activities have helped strengthen friendship while enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the peoples of the two countries.

Ambassador Choi Young Sam expressed his hope that the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations would continue to serve as a bridge connecting friendship organizations and the peoples of Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea. He emphasized the need to further promote direct people-to-people connections through youth, cultural, and academic exchange activities.

The Ambassador affirmed that, regardless of whatever position he may hold in the future, he will continue to follow and support the development of Viet Nam-Republic of Korea relations and remain committed to working alongside the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations in fostering friendship and strengthening bonds between the peoples of the two countries.
