Cu Lao Cham: Peaceful and friendly group of islands
Cu Lao Cham, a group of islands in Hoi An city in the central province of Quang Nam, is situated 15 kilometres from Cua Dai Port. It attracts tourists through the development of green tourism and fishermen’s simple lives.
Reaching the islands, visitors will see and feel at close hand the lives of the fishermen, who are all around to see.
The islands’ market where specialties of the province and fresh seafood are sold takes place very early in the morning.
Cu Lao Cham is considered an environmentally friendly group of islands as local residents and tourists use banana leaves or paper, instead of nylon bags, to wrap things.
Along with abalone, crab is the specialty of the islands. This kind of crab only crawls out of the cave on rainy days.
Apart from enjoying seafood, tourists can walk and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of the sea. Beaches are full of sun, providing pure water suitable for swimming and sunbathing. There are also snorkelling and coral ping opportunities, or sailing around the islands.
The well which is imbued with Cham ethnic minority culture is a source of fresh water for the life on the islands. It was recognized as a national relic in 2006.
Hai Tang pagoda, built in 1758, serves residents’ religious needs.
It is wonderful to view sunset at sea in the afternoon.
