According to Ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep, alongside his role as a leader who devoted his entire life to the struggle for national independence, freedom and reunification, President Ho Chi Minh made important contributions to laying the foundations of Vietnamese diplomacy from the earliest days of the nation’s establishment.

His diplomatic thought reflected a unity between steadfast adherence to fundamental principles and an emphasis on humanistic values. In international relations, President Ho Chi Minh consistently attached importance to peace, national independence, national sovereignty, equality and shared interests, seeking to build friendship with all countries and avoid confrontation and hostility.

Ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep also highlighted President Ho Chi Minh’s approachable, sincere, open and considerate diplomatic style. In his dealings with other peoples, he always placed great importance on mutual respect and understanding, including towards the people of countries that had been on the opposing side during wars with Viet Nam.

Drawing on these values, the ambassador affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh’s story was connected not only to Viet Nam’s historical journey but also conveyed messages of broader significance about nations’ right to independence, peace, friendship and the role of dialogue. These values remain relevant to international relations in the current context.
