Goethe-Institut to host sixth European Day of Languages
(VNF) - The Goethe-Institut Hanoi will be turned into a center for multilingualism on October 29th for the sixth European Day of Languages, the Goethe-Institut said in a statement.
Held annually by the European Union National Institutes of Culture (EUNIC), the European Day of Languages is an occasion for linguists, experts and the general public to learn more about Europe’s linguistic persity.

This year’s participants are the embassies of France, Italy and Poland, as well as the Aula Cervantes, Wallonie-Bruxelles, the British Council and the Goethe-Institut.
Scientists, linguists and teachers of foreign languages will discuss and exchange experiences on the morning of October 29th. In the afternoon, the Festival of Languages will be opened to all those interested in experiencing the persity of European languages, followed by workshops and other activities.
From 9.00 am - 12.45 pm, the conference “Multilingualism in schools” opens to school principals, language teachers, linguists and scientists will be held. Those interested can register until October 24th with Mrs. Nguyen Thanh Huong at [email protected] or call 04 37342251.
In “Festival of Languages”, which does not require registration, the participating institutions will present their respective languages and countries. Visitors have the opportunity to learn their first words in, English, French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish and thus gain an impression of the linguistic and cultural persity of Europe.
Additionally, posters, books and brochures about Europe and its languages will be showcased.
This year’s European Day of Languages marks the launch of the one-week education and training event (31.10. – 05.11.2016) with the headline “German as a Foreign Language in Vietnam: Tasks, suggestions, prospects.”
Admission to all events is free of charge.
An initiative of the Council of Europe, the European Day of Languages has been celebrated every year since 2011 in Vietnam, and every year since 2001 in all of the EU member states./.
