HCM City aims to become regional and int’l financial hub
The development of Ho Chi Minh City into a regional and international financial hub will serve as the main theme of the HCM City Economic Forum 2019 slated for October 18 in HCM City, heard a press conference in HCM City on October 8.
At the press conference
The event will represent the second year that the southern metropolis has organised an economic forum with the aim of pooling resources to spur the city’s economic development.
Last year, at the HCM City Economic Forum 2018, local and foreign experts and businesses gave their opinions on the formulation of the project aimed at developing the entire eastern area of the city. This side of the city is the main focus of a number of institutes, a hi-tech park, and creative urban areas.
During this year's forum, the long-term goal of turning Ho Chi Minh City into a regional and international financial hub will come under scrutiny.
The participating experts and entrepreneurs are expected to contribute their opinions on the matter whilst also hearing relevant ministries and agencies present their visions and strategies on how to fulfill their objectives.
Chu Tien Dung, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Business Association, who is also serving as the deputy head of the organizing board, said that municipal leaders expressed a desire to collect opinions from both domestic and foreign experts at the forum to finalize the project to turn Ho Chi Minh City into a regional and international financial hub in the future.
The Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum 2019 is expected to draw the participation of 800 delegates, including senior managers, diplomats, experts, and representatives of domestic and foreign large enterprises.
