The Communist Party of Vietnam affirms its comprehensive leadership from the 1945 victory to Doi Moi

Speaking with a VNA correspondent, Suos Yara affirmed that the victory of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945) and the National Day (September 2, 1945) confirmed the successful leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam under President Ho Chi Minh, ending colonial and feudal oppression and ushering in a new era of national independence.

Since 1945, the Communist Party of Vietnam has continued to lead the people to major victories such as the Border Campaign of 1950, the Dien Bien Phu victory of 1954, leading to the Geneva Accords, and the historic victory of 1975, completing the cause of national reunification. “The Communist Party of Vietnam was not only the spiritual leader of the Vietnamese people in decision-making but also the one that devised policies and inspired unwavering determination for national reunification,” he said.

According to him, the strategy of building socialism in the North while struggling for liberation in the South created military and economic strength, culminating in the victory of 1975.

He particularly highlighted the milestone of the 6th National Party Congress (1986) with the launch of Doi Moi, opening up and integrating internationally, which helped stabilize people’s lives and elevate Vietnam’s global standing. “Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, your country has sharply reduced the poverty rate year after year, bringing it down to a negligible level today. This is clear proof of the Party’s success and the noble ideals guided by President Ho Chi Minh,” he stressed.

Appreciating Vietnam’s expanded cooperation and development, he expressed confidence: “Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, especially General Secretary To Lam, and with the steadfast trust of the people, by 2045, Vietnam will achieve its goal of enhancing its image, status, and influence in the region and the world.”

Pedro Vázquez González, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico:

Mexico has faith in Vietnam’s new stage of development

Representative Pedro Vázquez affirmed that the August Revolution of 1945 and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam were historic milestones, opening a new era of independence and freedom for the Vietnamese people and inspiring national liberation movements around the world.

He praised Vietnam’s journey from a war-ravaged country to a dynamic and deeply integrated economy, with GDP per capita increasing nearly 40 times compared to the early days of Doi Moi.

According to him, these achievements are evidence of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s strategic vision in combining national independence with socialism, always placing the people’s interests at the center. Notable outcomes include poverty reduction, expanded access to education and healthcare, and strengthened social security.

He emphasized that Vietnam today is closely associated with peace, cooperation, and development. It has become an attractive destination for investors and an increasingly important voice in international organizations, with a consistent stance on independence, autonomy, and equal, mutually beneficial cooperation.

From Mexico’s perspective, Vázquez highly valued the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, seeing it as a testament to shared values of independence, justice, and sustainable development.

He expressed confidence that with its national resilience, rich cultural heritage, and sound development strategy, Vietnam is entering a new phase, on the path to becoming a high-income country and making greater contributions to global peace, stability, and progress.

Juan Castillo, General Secretary of the Communist Party and Minister of Labor and Social Security of Uruguay:

Vietnam is a shining example of sustainable development

In an interview with VNA, Juan Castillo affirmed that September 2, 1945 was not only a historic milestone for Vietnam but also a great symbol for national liberation movements and social progress around the world.

He emphasized that the achievements attained by the Vietnamese people over the past 80 years stem from their resilience, spirit of self-reliance, and aspiration to build a fair, democratic, and civilized society. Despite many challenges, Vietnam has remained steadfast on the socialist path, pursuing economic development, ensuring social security, and improving the quality of life for its people.

He expressed admiration for Vietnam’s growing role on the international stage, seeing it as clear proof of the effectiveness and sustainability of the country’s development model. “Vietnam is a shining example of sustainable development and innovation. We are proud to regard Vietnam as a loyal and inspiring friend in the journey toward building a humane, just, and peaceful world,” he stressed.

He also informed that Uruguay is in the process of building a statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Montevideo, where he once set foot during his journey abroad for national salvation. He affirmed that this project represents profound gratitude and sends a message to future generations about President Ho Chi Minh’s ideals and stature.

According to him, the statue will become a valuable foundation for the friendship between the two countries. He also expressed his hope to visit Vietnam soon to witness firsthand the development achievements of a nation to which he has long held deep affection.

Hugo Pierrel, Deputy Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Vietnam:

Vietnam achieves remarkably impressive socio-economic progress

According to Hugo Pierrel, Vietnam has undergone a “remarkably impressive” socio-economic transformation, moving from an underdeveloped country to achieving lower middle-income status in 2017 and now advancing toward the ranks of upper middle-income economies. One of the most notable achievements has been its dramatic poverty reduction: the extreme poverty rate fell from 45% in 1990 to below 1% today, thanks to rational resource allocation, effective macroeconomic governance, and persistent reform. He noted that Vietnam’s economic management policies are “exemplary,” inspiring confidence among international partners while skillfully leveraging trade integration, attracting FDI, and utilizing ODA resources.

At the same time, Pierrel pointed out three key challenges in project implementation in Vietnam: difficulties in land management and site clearance, complex project approval procedures, and risks to biodiversity during infrastructure development. However, he acknowledged that the Vietnamese Government has taken proactive steps to address these issues, streamline processes, and prioritize ecological conservation.

To maintain sustainable growth, he recommended that Vietnam integrate four crucial elements: developing low-carbon production and consumption systems, mainstreaming climate change adaptation into all policies, building robust infrastructure and institutions, and fostering high-quality human resources.

He further emphasized the importance of clearly defining the roles of public and private investment in strategic sectors, ensuring fair access to credit for all economic actors, and thereby realizing the goals of green growth. “Development partners such as AFD stand ready to accompany the Vietnamese Government, sharing experience, expertise, and technology to jointly achieve development goals,” Pierrel affirmed.
