According to the VNA special correspondent, speaking at the seminar, Veronica Squinzi, Vice President for International Affairs of the Lombardy Business Association (Italian Federation of Industry and Employers), emphasized that the visit of National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn marked an important milestone in the relationship between Vietnam and Italy.

She highlighted that Lombardy is one of Italy’s leading economic regions, playing a pivotal role in industry and technology. Milan, the region’s capital, serves as Italy’s major financial and commercial hub and an important gateway for international businesses seeking access to the European market.

At present, many Italian enterprises operating in Vietnam originate from Lombardy, providing a strong foundation for enhancing bilateral cooperation. The region also offers Vietnamese businesses and organizations valuable opportunities to engage with Italy’s industrial and innovation ecosystem within Europe.

Raffaele Cattaneo, Undersecretary of the Lombardy Region, noted that since 2003 Lombardy has identified Vietnam as a priority partner within ASEAN. He highlighted the inauguration of the direct Milan - Hanoi flight as a testament to the positive momentum in bilateral cooperation.

He affirmed that Lombardy highly values Vietnam’s development potential and stands ready to share expertise and advanced technologies, particularly in mechanical manufacturing, green transformation, the circular economy, and renewable energy. He also emphasized the significant scope for collaboration in education, human resource training, and the preservation and promotion of architectural and cultural heritage.

Speaking at the seminar, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man underscored the importance of the event, taking place as Vietnam-Italy friendship and cooperation enter a new stage of deeper, more substantive, and effective development. He highlighted that after nearly 40 years of reform and integration, Vietnam has achieved major accomplishments and is pursuing three strategic breakthroughs, with the goal of achieving GDP growth above 10% in 2026 and sustaining double-digit growth through the 2026-2030 period.

He stressed that Vietnam is accelerating institutional reforms, streamlining its administrative apparatus, addressing bottlenecks in human resources and infrastructure, and fostering a favorable environment for investment, production, and business. Efforts to combat corruption and negative practices are being strengthened, thereby consolidating the confidence of the business community and investors.

Vietnam identifies science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key drivers of growth, aiming to become a modern industrialized nation with upper-middle income status by 2030 and a developed, high-income country by 2045. To achieve these ambitious goals, Vietnam seeks to maximize internal strengths while effectively leveraging external resources through international integration and cooperation, including with Italy.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that both sides continue to improve the institutional and legal framework to further facilitate trade and investment, while promoting cooperation in areas where Italy has strengths and Vietnam has pressing needs-such as manufacturing, high technology, green transformation, renewable energy, infrastructure, supporting industries, and food processing.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between business communities, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in deeper participation in global value chains, and advancing cooperation in innovation and digital transformation. In particular, he underscored the role of the National Assemblies and Parliaments of both countries in monitoring and refining mechanisms and policies, thereby ensuring a stable, transparent, and favorable legal environment for long-term cooperation.

Following the discussion, the Speaker encouraged businesses from both countries to intensify exchanges and connections, leading to the signing and implementation of specific projects with clear requirements regarding inputs and outputs, human resources, technology, finance, as well as defined timelines and criteria for evaluating effectiveness.

Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly will continue to work closely with the Government and the business community to build and perfect institutions, foster a transparent and competitive investment climate, and contribute to the increasingly substantive, effective, and sustainable development of Vietnam-Italy cooperation.
