More than 1,100 candidates join NA election
As of March 18th, 63 provinces and cities across the country have completed the second consultative meetings, making a preliminary list of candidates for election as deputies to the 14th National Assembly (NA) and People’s Councils at all levels in the 2016-2021 tenure.

Accordingly, 1,166 people were listed as candidates for election as NA deputies.
At the central level, the second consultative meeting organised by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Presidium agreed to adopt the list of 197 candidates for election as NA deputies from central agencies and organizations.
Meanwhile, 63 provinces and cities introduced 969 candidates for election as NA deputies and 7,462 candidates for election as People’s Council deputies, with an increase in the number of self-nominated candidates, especially in Hanoi (48 candidates) and Ho Chi Minh city (73 candidates).
According to VFF Vice President Nguyen Van Pha, the increased number of self-nominated candidates helped the Fatherland Front at all levels have more opportunities to select the most outstanding candidates for the agencies.
After the second consultative meeting, the VFF Standing Boards of provinces and cities are holding meetings to take voters’ comments and confidence towards the candidates at their residential areas.
The third consultative meeting will take place from April 13th-17th./.
