Ninh Thuan province’s drought-affected regions receive VND1.7 billion in assistance
The Vietnam Military Telecommunications Group (Viettel) on July 23rd-24thc initiated a program in support of the people in the central province of Ninh Thuan who have been badly affected by drought since the beginning of this year.

Accordingly, each poor and nearly-poor family in the 3 communes in Bac Ai and Thuan Bac districts received a package of presents worth VND500,000 each which included essential foods. In addition, the 60 poorest families were provided support for improving supplementary constructions and tools of production to stabilise their lives and promote economic development.
All of the assistance, which included 19 tons of goods and VND800 million in cash, had been mobilised from the Viettel group.
This is the most serious drought in the past 10 years, greatly affecting people’s lives in the province, emptying 20 reservoirs, seriously affecting the livelihood of some 5,500 families with over 23,000 people facing shortages of water, and thousands of horned animals dying, 501 hectares of plants destroyed and the productivity of over 1,500 hectares of others decreased./.
