The Son La police and the Ministry of Public Security successfully busted a drug ring and seized 160 cakes of heroin late evening of May 3rd in Chieng Xuan commune, Van Ho district, Son La province.

At that time, the police discovered a group of 28 armed suspects illegally transporting heroin from the border area into Son La province.

When the drug traffickers knew that police had discovered them, they opened fire to evade capture. In self-defense the police returned fire, killing one of the traffickers with the remainder escaping.

At the scene, the police discovered and seized three AK guns, a carbine gun, 85 bullets, many bullet shells and ten backpacks containing 160 cakes of heroin and some other related exhibits.
