The Romanian delegation was led by Sorin Mihai Cîmpeanu, former Acting Prime Minister of Romania, former Minister of Education of Romania, and Rector of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest. The delegation also included Cristina Romila, Ambassador of Romania to Vietnam, along with representatives of the university.

On the Vietnamese side, attendees included Tran Phu Cuong, Director General of the Europe Department of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; Ho Quang Loi, President of the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association; Nguyen Tien Tung, former Rector of Hanoi University of Agriculture; former doctoral candidates of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest; and representatives of Vietnamese alumni who studied at the university.

In his welcoming remarks, Tran Phu Cuong highly appreciated the significance of the visit, noting that it took place as the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Romania have continued to be nurtured and developed by successive generations of leaders and people of both countries over the past 75 years. He expressed confidence that the visit would help deepen mutual understanding and expand connections between partners from the two countries, particularly in education, scientific research, and people-to-people exchanges.

The Director General of the Europe Department also expressed his hope that VUFO would continue expanding its network of partners in Romania, especially with universities and research institutes. He proposed that VUFO, the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association, and the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest strengthen information sharing and promote faculty and student exchange programmes, international scientific conferences, youth exchanges, and networking among experts in agriculture, veterinary medicine, environmental protection, sustainable development, and innovation.

Speaking at the meeting, Ho Quang Loi, President of the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association, emphasized that Romania was among the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Over the past 76 years, the friendship and cooperation between the two nations have been continuously strengthened through Party, State, Government, parliamentary, and people-to-people channels, while also expanding across a wide range of fields, including economy, trade, investment, education and training, science and technology, culture, healthcare, and tourism.

According to Ho Quang Loi, the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association currently has nearly 1,200 members and has consistently worked to fulfill its role as a bridge promoting cooperation between the two countries. He noted that Romania has educated more than 4,000 Vietnamese engineers, bachelor's degree holders, doctoral graduates, and specialists in various fields. Many of them have gone on to become leading scientists, experts, and senior officials holding important positions in Vietnam, including numerous alumni of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest.

Ho Quang Loi also highly appreciated the contributions of Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam Cristina Romila in promoting bilateral friendship. He expressed confidence that the visit by the delegation from the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest would create new opportunities for cooperation among educational institutions, research institutes, and friendship organizations of Vietnam and Romania, thereby further deepening the traditional friendship and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Responding to the remarks, Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam Cristina Romila thanked VUFO for its warm reception and affirmed that the Embassy of Romania would continue to accompany and support cooperation programmes in education, research, and projects proposed by the Vietnamese side. She stressed that Romania has always been a reliable and safe partner of Vietnam and expressed confidence that, with the support of Sorin Mihai Cîmpeanu, the two sides would continue implementing many practical initiatives and cooperative projects in the coming period.

Ambassador Cristina Romila also expressed her appreciation for Vietnamese alumni who had studied in Romania. In her view, generations of alumni have formed the foundation of bilateral friendship and will continue to play an important role in advancing Vietnam-Romania relations in the future.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for Vietnamese alumni of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest to reunite with the university's leadership and faculty members and reminisce about their years of study in Romania. It also served to strengthen connections among different generations of alumni, contributing to the continued development of friendship and expanded educational cooperation between Vietnam and Romania in the years ahead.

Vietnamese workers in Romania Appreciated for Diligence and Cleverness Romania needs about 100,000 foreign workers, while Vietnamese workers in Romania are known for their industriousness and cleverness, which are favored by employers. This is a favorable condition for the two countries to further cooperate in labor, said Mihai Condescu, Chairman of the Romanian - Vietnam Friendship Association “Lotus” during a meeting with Ho Quang Loi, President of the Vietnam - Romania Friendship Association in Hanoi on Feb. 27.

Strengthen Understanding, Develop Vietnam-Romania Relations Commensurate with Potential On April 3 in Hanoi, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), in coordination with the Vietnam - Romania Friendship Association and the Romanian Embassy to Vietnam, organized an information-sharing session on Romania to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations (February 3, 1950 - February 3, 2025).
