Economic development, illegal fishing, and climate change is changing the ecology of Tonle Sap Lake – the most abudant inland waters for fish and Mekong Rivers, permanently weakening the pulse system, wiping out fish stocks and threatening food supplies of millions of Cambodian.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia and the Vietnam Business Club in Cambodia (VBCC) just raised USD 27,050 and two tonnes of rice to support the Vietnamese-Cambodians living on Tonle Sap water who are forced to relocate to land this month.

Crucial water flows to Tonle Sap, South-east Asia's largest lake, have been delayed for a second consecutive year, according to river experts, severely disrupting fishing and threatening the food supply of more than a million people.

Vietnam’s representative agencies in Cambodia have been closely following the relocation of Vietnamese Cambodians in the Tonle Sap area in Cambodia and have timely taken measures to assist those who had to relocate, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said.
