A Japanese island keeps growing ten times in size

An island named Nishinoshima in Japan has been going through some growing pains and doubled in a little over 7 years. The eruption is mostly basaltic lava flows like those in Hawai'i, but a cinder cone has also grown on the island.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the volcanic island - also known as Whakaari - off New Zealand's north coast had erupted. At least five people were killed, up to 20 injured and several others reported missing.
