The tournament was organised by the Vietnamese Community Badminton Association in Japan under the patronage of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and the Vietnam-Japan International Exchange Organisation (FAVIJA).

Taking part in the tournament were nearly 300 athletes, including Vietnamese people living, studying, and working in various prefectures and cities across Japan, and several guest athletes from Vietnam and members of the Vietnamese community in South Korea.

The athletes competed in 5 categories: Open doubles, women’s doubles, and men’s doubles Levels 2, 3 and 4.

The tournament aimed to encourage physical exercise, improve health, and enrich the spiritual life of the Vietnamese community in Japan, contributing to promoting solidarity, strengthening exchanges and community connections, and fostering a positive image of Vietnamese people among Japanese and international friends.

At the opening ceremony, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan Le Thi Hoa praised the efforts of the organising group, supporting organisations, sponsors, and numerous volunteers in organizing the tournament. “The Vietnamese Embassy acknowledges and highly appreciates the dedication of the organising group, accompanying organisations, sponsors, and many volunteers who devoted considerable effort to this tournament. Those contributions have helped create meaningful activities and enrich the spiritual life of the Vietnamese community in Japan,” Le Thi Hoa said.

According to Le Thi Hoa, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan will continue to accompany and support cultural, sporting, and community exchange activities that strengthen cohesion among Vietnamese people in the country while further promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

Head of the tournament’s organising group Tran Xuan Hung said sport has always served as a special bridge capable of overcoming differences in geography, occupation, and generation to bring people together.

“The tournament is not only about competition and physical fitness, but also an opportunity for people to meet, share, strengthen solidarity and spread the positive values of the Vietnamese community,” Tran Xuan Hung said.

After a day of lively and competitive matches conducted in a spirit of fairness, solidarity, and sportsmanship, the athletes delivered a series of high-quality performances that left a strong impression on spectators.

First prizes in the respective categories went to:

Mixed men’s doubles: Le Thanh Tung and Le Dang Khoa (ISC Club, Kanagawa).

Men’s doubles Level 3: Vu Hoang Anh and Nguyen Chi Dung (Betohama Club, Shizuoka).

Men’s doubles Level 2: Kim Dinh Hieu and Do Quang Dai (from Seoul, Republic of Korea).

Women’s doubles: Le Trang and Trieu Thai Ngoc Nhu (Akababe Club, Tokyo).

Open doubles: Yuki Kubota and Takuya Nakashima (Japan).

According to the Chairman of FAVIJA Do Quang Ba, the Vietnamese community in Japan has continued to grow in both size and quality in recent years, increasingly affirming its positive role in Japan’s economic, cultural, and social life while serving as an important bridge in strengthening friendship between Vietnam and Japan.

“To build a united, civilised and sustainably developing community, cultural and sporting activities are extremely important alongside study, work, production and business. They provide a healthy environment for people to interact, exercise, strengthen connections, and share and support one another in daily life,” Do Quang Ba said.
