30 Years of Vietnam - US Diplomatic Relations

On November 23 in Hanoi, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, the US Mission to Vietnam, and the Hanoi People’s Committee jointly organized the Vietnam-US Friendship Festival. This event is part of a series of activities commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The 30-year journey of normalizing and advancing relations has witnessed efforts to expand and deepen trust as well as understanding between Vietnam and the US.

On July 7 in Hanoi, the Library Center for International Studies under the Institute of Social Sciences Information hosted a scientific seminar entitled “30 Years of Vietnam-US Relations: Reflecting on the Journey Through Publications, Documents, and Personalities”, along with the opening of an exhibition showcasing key publications on Vietnam-US relations. The event was held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries (1995-2025).

The year 2025 marks a significant milestone—thirty years since the normalization of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States (1995–2025)—highlighting the two countries' remarkable journey from former adversaries to trusted and reliable partners.

On June 22, in Da Nang, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, the US Mission in Vietnam, and the Da Nang City People's Committee organized the Vietnam-US Friendship Exchange. As part of a series of events commemorating the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations, the event attracts around 3,000 delegates, residents, and tourists.

On June 22, the Vietnam-US Friendship Festival will take place in Da Nang City. The event is co-organized by the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, the US Embassy and Consulate in Vietnam, and the People’s Committee of Da Nang City. It marks the 30th anniversary of the normalization and establishment of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations (July 12, 1995 - July 12, 2025).
