Two ministries join hands to foster agro-forestry-fishery consumption
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on November 9th signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to intensify cooperation in promoting the production and consumption of agro-forestry-fishery products between 2016 and 2020.
The two ministries will enhance association to effectively realize six fields: developing production towards output, quality and added value to meet the market’s demand; exchanging information and lifting non-tariff barriers; promoting trade and brand building; fighting smuggling and counterfeiting; strengthening State management; and developing craft villages, among others.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that both sides will guide producing and consuming vegetables, pork meat, milk, shrimp, tra fish and rice, towards bringing the export of agro-forestry-fisheries to 31USD billion.
In recent years, with the participation of all levels, branches and localities, the implementation of measures to promote production and negotiation for opening and persifying Vietnam’s agriculture-forestry-fishery export markets showed remarkable results.
Statistics showed that agriculture-forestry-fishery export turnover in the first ten months of the year reached USD26.4 billion, a year-on-year rise of 6.3%. Of this, four commodities obtained an export turnover of more than USD2 billion, including seafood, vegetable and fruits, coffee and cashew nuts, while seven others earned an export value of over USD1 billion./.
