Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences has new President
(VNF) - On May 16th, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc inked Decision 818/QD-TTg, appointing Professor Doctor Nguyen Quang Thuan, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) cum Head of Institute of Chinese Studies, as VASS President.
Mr Nguyen Quang Thuan replaces Mr Nguyen Xuan Thang, PCC member, who was appointed as Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (2016-2021 term) by the Politburo on April 22nd.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony held in Hanoi on May 18th, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam hailed the achievements of the VASS as an important factor helping change the face of the Vietnamese social science sector, saying that the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences should build a strong, competent staff that is able to address the country’s theoretical and practical issues, thus contributing more to national development.
Establishing in 1953, VASS has grown in all fields and had significant contributions to the protection and building of the nation for over half a century. Headquartered at No.1 Lieu Giai street, Ba Dinh district, it currently has President Nguyen Quang Thuan, and three Vice Presidents, including Associate Professor Doctor Pham Van Duc, Associate Professor Doctor Bui Nhat Quang, and Associate Professor Doctor Dang Nguyen Anh./.
