The education ministry noted this was the best result ever that a Vietnamese physics team have achieved at the event.
The accomplishment helped the Vietnamese team finish third after mainland China and Chinese Taipei, and rank above Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.
Thao also pocketed a special prize for being the event’s female contestant to make the highest achievement.
The team will be greeted and conferred with the education minister’s certificates of merit at a ceremony which is slated to be held at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on Monday afternoon./.
