"Shared Legacies, Shared Future" Youth Dialogues:
Youth as Peace Ambassadors and Bridges of Friendship

The dialogue, organized by the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), attracted about 30 youths and students from the US, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Representing VUFO are five young officials who are members of the Youth Union.

VUFO Vice President Dong Huy Cuong highly commended the dialogue’s aims of "to build meaningful connections between communities and aspirations for a brighter future" and "young people will be the ones who shape the future of US - Southeast Asian relations."
He expressed his belief that all young participant serves as peace Ambassadors, the bridges liking the peoples, contributing to building lasting friendships and sustainable cooperation between our nations.

The youth dialogue provided an opportunity for international youth to share insights into the history, culture, and people of their respective countries. Through these discussions, participants aimed to build friendships, deepen mutual understanding, and contribute to healing the wounds of wars.
At the exchange event, young people and students from the US, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam introduced their countries, people, and unique traditional cultural values. Through these sharings, the delegates could gain a deeper understanding of the region's diverse cultures, thereby contributing to enhanced mutual understanding and stronger bonds among the younger generations.
Delegates also discussed the role of youth in promoting unity, friendship, and peace in the context of globalization and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Several practical initiatives were proposed, including organizing international exchange programs, volunteer activities, and forums for youth and student engagement.
