(VNF) - An exhibition entitled “Mascara” displaying a series of women portraits in the social and cultural context of late twentieth century-early 21^st century Vietnam, will be hosted in Hanoi from August 26^th.

Speaking of mascara, people immediately understand that it is an ancient cosmetic product for the eyes of women. Exactly where the word “mascara” comes from is unclear, but it is most frequently thought to be based from the Spanish word máscara meaning ‘mask’ or ‘stain’ and the Italian word maschera meaning ‘mask’.

In deeper, mascara expresses the woman's natural instinct to make themselves prettier, is a tool for them to make up, to create highlights to attract, even create a mask to fascinate the opposite person.

The artworks, more than just women portraits, are the faces of the generation, representing the new cultures and new age. The exhibition strives to convey the endless creativity of the young contemporary artists of Vietnam, who are constantly looking for changes and breaking the mold.

The event will present the works of prominent contemporary artists such as Nguyen Nghia Cuong, Nguyen Van Cuong, Vu Dinh Tuan, Bui Thanh Tam, Ngo Van Sac, Nguyen The Hung, Pham Tuan Tu and sculptor Luong Duc Hung.

The event will be take place at Trang Tien Plaza (24 Hai Ba Trung Street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi) until September 3^rd./.
