Exhibition on brocade opens HCM city
The exhibition titled “Tho cam II” (Brocade II) by artist Doan Xuan Tang, showcasing paintings depicting the mystery of Vietnam's mountainous regions and its people, will open its doors from March 4th-26th at Vin Gallery in Thao Dien in district 2, Ho Chi Minh city.

Doan Xuan Tang’s paintings distil the romance and mystery of Vietnam’s mountainous region and its people. The streaked lines look like veils through which eyes peer dispassionately, recalling his rain-lashed first visit.
“I particularly love to paint the eyes because they reflect the soul inside - happy, sad, or suffering.”
His paintings do not romanticize a region whose beauty belies hardships; the lines remind that cultures can’t be consumed, and inevitably elude our true understanding. Physical appearance is just one facet of the complexity of the human condition.
“Beauty fades, but its impression is permanent”./.
