At the meeting, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son briefed the General Secretary and State President on the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations' notable achievements during the previous term, and the outcomes of the Congress. Accordingly, the people-to-people diplomacy work of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations has undergone innovations in its thinking, content, and methods of operation, contributing to building and enhancing Viet Nam’s reputation and position in the international arena. Phan Anh Son also briefed the General Secretary and State President on the orientations, perspectives, and tasks of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations for the new term.

After hearing the report, General Secretary and State President To Lam highly appreciated the achievements attained by the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations over the past period. The General Secretary and State President affirmed that the role of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations as the core, specialized and pillar organization in people-to-people diplomacy has been defined by the Party and the State. Therefore, these orientations need to be swiftly translated into practice in order to enhance their substantive effectiveness. The General Secretary and State President called on central-level committees, ministries, sectors and localities to urgently coordinate and advise the Party and State on completing the institutional framework for people-to-people diplomacy, while creating conditions for the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations to participate in appropriate national coordination mechanisms in line with its functions and tasks.

In the context of new developments in the world and the country, the General Secretary and State President outlined a number of tasks and directions for the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations. These include turning awareness, plans, and orientations into concrete results. “The strength of the people is invincible, and we must proactively tap into and actively harness that strength,” General Secretary and State President To Lam emphasized.
