The project marks a new phase of cooperation between GNI and MOET in efforts to promote social work and school counseling in Vietnam. Previously, since 2022, the two sides have coordinated pilot activities in various localities to strengthen student support capacity, enhance the role of staff and teachers, and promote the development of safe educational environments. Results achieved in previous phases have provided an important foundation for expanding the model on a broader scale during 2026-2027.

With the goal of continuing to develop social work and school counseling in schools, the 2026-2027 project will focus on expanding the model to 55 schools in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho and Thanh Hoa; developing digital materials providing guidance on prevention; developing prevention programs to raise awareness of children’s rights and children’s self-protection capacity; and strengthening communication activities to raise awareness among schools, families and communities about the role of social work and school counseling.

Speaking at the ceremony, representatives of both sides affirmed that strengthening cooperation in social work and school counseling would not only contribute to improving the quality of student support, but also promote the implementation of children’s rights, creating conditions for children to study and develop in a safe, equal and comprehensive environment.

Deputy Director for the Political Education and Pupil and Student Affairs Department under the MOET Nguyen Xuan An Viet acknowledged and highly appreciated GNI’s proactive approach, sense of responsibility and active engagement in Vietnam in cooperation and implementation of the “Development of Social Work and School Counseling Project for 2022-2024.” The 2022-2024 project achieved several encouraging results, on the basis of which social work and school counseling within MOET have initially developed, laying the foundation for the next phase.

Nguyen Xuan An Viet said that during 2026-2027, MOET and GNI will cooperate in implementing the “Development of Social Work and School Counseling Project for 2026-2027,” contributing to improving the quality and effectiveness of social work and school counseling in providing consultation and support to students at schools. Key activities include expanding social work and school counseling models at educational institutions; developing and implementing prevention programs on social work and school counseling at educational institutions; and conducting communication activities to raise awareness of social work and school counseling in schools.

GNI Representative Cho Eun Seung said that children are the future and the most valuable asset of every country. The project being jointly implemented this time will not only focus on intervention and support after problems arise, but also aim to ensure that children receive the necessary support before they encounter difficulties, while creating conditions for them to study and live in a healthier and safer school environment.

“I believe that this project, jointly implemented by MOET and GNI, is not simply a project, but also an important mission to work together to create a school environment and support system that helps children develop in a healthier and more comprehensive way.

I hope that today’s cooperation signing ceremony will become a new beginning, so that our efforts can be implemented effectively and sustainably in schools, while providing practical support to even more children,” he said.
