He affirmed that the appointment of Greg Norman as Vietnam’s Tourism Ambassador for the 2025-2030 period is a strategic move aligned with the country’s new phase of tourism development. At the ceremony, Greg Norman expressed his pride in continuing his close association with Vietnam as Tourism Ambassador for the 2025-2030 term. He pledged to make every effort to further promote the image of Vietnam, not only as a destination for golf enthusiasts, but also as a land of heritage, natural beauty, rich culture, and friendly people, thereby elevating Vietnam’s tourism profile on a global scale.
In his new term, he stated that he would continue to strengthen the promotion of Vietnam as a premier golf destination, enhance international recognition, and reaffirm the country's position as one of Asia’s top golfing locations. He plans to do so through his personal media platforms and by working to organize international golf tournaments in Vietnam, aiming to bring at least one global-level event to the country during his ambassadorship.
Additionally, he announced plans to launch a series of Greg Norman Golf Academies, designed to train the next generation of Vietnamese golfers, integrate golf into physical education, and make the sport more accessible to the public from an early age.
He also emphasized his role in linking golf tourism with heritage tourism through events such as the Heritage Golf Festival in Quang Tri, Hue, and Da Nang. Moreover, he will take part in tourism promotion activities, especially for golf tourism, at cultural and tourism programs held in the United States and Australia by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.
According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, during his first term as Vietnam’s Tourism Ambassador (2018-2021), Greg Norman made remarkable contributions in elevating the image of Vietnam’s golf tourism on both regional and global maps. Under his active engagement, Vietnam was consecutively honored as “Asia’s Best Golf Destination” for five years in a row, and twice named “World’s Best Golf Destination” in 2019 and 2021 by the World Golf Awards, a prestigious accolade under the World Travel Awards system. He collaborated with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (now the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism) to launch numerous promotional campaigns and activities to showcase Vietnam’s tourism image on international platforms. He served as the official face of the Golf section on the national tourism website (Vietnam.travel). As a “storyteller,” he shared his personal experiences, impressions, and perspectives on Vietnam’s landscapes, cuisine, and culture through various features, video clips, and posts on his personal social media channels. Thanks to his global influence and extensive network, Greg Norman also played a key role in advising and facilitating international events in Vietnam, notably bringing the International Series Vietnam, part of the Asian Tour, to the KN Golf Links Cam Ranh course, for which he was the lead course designer. He also promoted Vietnam through major international media outlets such as CNN, CNBC, Golf Channel, and Golf Digest, helping position Vietnam as an emerging golf destination in the region and globally. The golf promotion videos he created were widely broadcast, significantly contributing to the global outreach of Vietnam’s tourism, culture, and people. In addition, Greg Norman actively shared his expertise in golf course design, tournament organization, and strategic consulting for the sustainable development of golf tourism in Vietnam. He contributed to the design of a dedicated section on Vietnam tourism on his personal website, shark.com, is a member of the Vietnam Golf Tourism Association (VGTA), and has participated in numerous international media interviews to promote Vietnam as a leading golf destination in Asia. He is also the organizer behind many of Vietnam’s most renowned golf courses, including The Bluffs Ho Tram, KN Golf Links Cam Ranh, Legend Da Nang Golf Resort, NovaWorld Phan Thiet, Dragon Golf Links, and Van Lang Empire T&T Golf Club. These projects have not only enriched Vietnam’s domestic golf tourism ecosystem but also laid a solid foundation for positioning the country as a top-tier golf destination in the region. |
