Previously, the contest is scheduled to run between May and August with different rounds to select the winner as well as the first and second runners-up. However, amid concerns over coronavirus, the organizers have decided to postpone the contest without announcing when the pageant could be held again.

“This is a sensitive time when the whole country is making great effort to prevent COVID-19”, said Le Xuan Son, Head of the Miss Vietnam 2020 Organizing Committee.

“The organizers will still accept candidates’ registration but how and when the contest will be organized must base on the epidemic situation”, he added.

Since its inception in 1988, Miss Vietnam has emerged as one of the most prestigious national beauty contests, celebrating Vietnamese women’s beauty, spirit, lifestyle and talent.
