From April 7 to 10, a delegation of the 5th Naval Region Command and the Party Committees of unit-level of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Ho Chi Minh City paid a visit to officers and soldiers under Battalion 551 in Vietnam's southwest sea.
The mission visited and encouraged officers and soldiers of Radar Station 610 and Radar Station 595 on Tho Chu island, (Kien Giang), and Hon Khoai island (Ca Mau)
Welcoming the delegation, the commanders of the units reported on the performance of military and defense tasks, the situation of political security, social order, and safety in the land and sea area under their management.
The delegation asked about the lives and families of soldiers and gave practical and meaningful gifts to encourage them to overcome difficulties, to believe in their work, and accomplish their assigned duties. The delegation hopes the soldiers contribute to protecting the country's sovereignty over the sacred seas and islands.
On this occasion, the delegation offered incense at Tho Chau temple to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh and the souls of heroes, martyrs, and more than 500 compatriots who were murdered by the Khmer Rouge in 1975. They also donated 300 national flags and 500 leaflets of sea trip safety guidance for fishermen.
