20 children all aged thirteen and below participated in the “On-the-spot” art competition.
“My favourite sport is tennis. I play tennis with my friends during the weekends. Sports keep us healthy and active. It’s really important. I am really happy to participate and draw my favourite sport,” said Yeetsho, a participant.
“I came here to draw my favourite sports and I had a lot of fun. And I love drawing,” said Rayden Jatsho, another participant.
Besides attractive prizes, the winning artwork will be displayed during the 19th Asian Games at Hangzhou in China. It will be held in September.
“So, this event is basically like a marketing campaign by the Olympic Council of Asia to promote the Asian Games coming up in 2023 September. So, basically, they want to use art as a way for kids to show support for their favourite sports or favourite athletes and promote culture through arts and sports,” said Sonam Namgyal from Bhutan Olympic Committee.
Five panellists from the Bhutan Olympic Committee and VAST will select four winners. And it will be announced next week.
The Bhutan Olympic Committee is organizing a marathon titled ‘Fun Run’ next week to also promote the Asian Games.
