Rice season on Pu Luong Peak
In the October rice season, Pu Luong Peak in the central province of Thanh Hoa looks as though it is wearing a yellow carpet, attracting a lot of tourists and photographers.
Pu Luong natural conservation area, situated some 130 kilometres from Thanh Hoa city, belongs to Quan Hoa and Ba Thuoc districts.
In Pu Luong, there are 2 main rice seasons every year, usually in May and October. Coming here, visitors will have a chance to enjoy the poetic and peaceful scenery of the highlands and meet with friendly local residents.
It takes some 3-4 hours to reach from Hanoi.
Tourists can travel easily by car or by motorbikes.
For overnight trips, tourists can rent local residents’ houses at VND50,000-VND70,000 each.

Rice is harvested and the grain is dried within 3-5 days while the straw is also dried for animal food or for cooking.
