Le Thi Thanh Giang noted that ODA projects funded by the Swiss Government in Can Tho have made significant contributions to the city’s socio-economic development, including poverty reduction, environmental protection, administrative reform, agriculture, healthcare, and education. She highlighted the recent visit to Switzerland by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and his visit to the family of Jacques Savary, a person who made significant contributions to healthcare in Can Tho, as a strong testament to Vietnam's appreciation of the enduring friendship between the two countries.

Swiss Consul General Werner Bardill stated, “Swiss National Day is a meaningful occasion to reflect on and build upon the traditional values of cooperation between our two nations.” He affirmed that Vietnam is a key investment partner for Switzerland in Asia, especially in the context of the two countries marking 35 years of development cooperation in May 2025. The two sides are currently launching a new development cooperation program worth US$50 million for the 2025–2028 period, focusing on trade, sustainable finance, and climate-resilient urban development.

The Consul General also praised the people-to-people diplomacy efforts in Can Tho, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, and digital transformation. He expressed hope for continued close coordination to further promote Swiss investment in the Mekong Delta, a region heavily affected by climate change.

Looking ahead to the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Switzerland in 2026, the Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations expressed its intent to coordinate meaningful and practical exchange activities to strengthen solidarity and people-to-people cooperation between the two nations.
