According to VNA, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya stated at the ceremony that coordinating activities with the Royal Thai Navy in Ho Chi Minh City holds special significance as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand and the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.

According to the Ambassador, President Ho Chi Minh laid an important foundation for the friendship between the two countries. Over the past half-century, Vietnam and Thailand have consistently maintained close relations in politics, economics, and people-to-people exchanges. Notably, in May 2025, the two countries upgraded their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening a new phase of deeper cooperation.

Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya stated that the visit of HTMS Prachuap Khiri Khan to Ho Chi Minh City serves as evidence of the increasingly close cooperation between the two countries’ navies. Both sides share the common goal of ensuring maritime security and stability. The 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Vietnam also presents an opportunity to elevate naval cooperation to a new level by exploring measures to deepen and expand collaboration in areas of mutual benefit, as well as coordinating responses to emerging challenges in today’s world.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Tran Van Bay highly appreciated the cultural exchange activities organized by the Royal Thai Embassy and the crew of HTMS Prachuap Khiri Khan in recent days. Among them, the photo exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh and the Thai traditional costume exhibition, “The Heritage of Queen Sirikit,” were highlights that contributed to enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

According to Tran Van Bay, the goodwill visit of the Thai naval vessel is a meaningful activity celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand, while also contributing to deeper cooperation between the Royal Thai Navy and the Vietnam People’s Navy.

The photo exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh at Nha Rong Wharf features numerous archival images documenting the relationship between President Ho Chi Minh, Thailand, and the Vietnamese community in Thailand, including photos of President Ho Chi Minh receiving Thai delegations visiting Vietnam and meeting with overseas Vietnamese in Thailand.
