In an effort to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand to a new level, on June, Thanh Hoa province, in coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand and WHA Group, one of Thailand's leading industrial infrastructure development groups, organized a seminar to introduce Thanh Hoa to Thai investors and businesses.

In his opening remark, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung highly appreciated Thanh Hoa's efforts and determination in promoting socio-economic development and realizing double-digit growth targets. He emphasized that the event was held at a opportune time, as Vietnam and Thailand celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations and witnessing bilateral cooperation flourish.

The recent visits by General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse to Thailand, and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and his spouse to Vietnam, which took place within just 10 days, are rare occurrences in diplomatic practice. They affirm the close relationship, strong cooperation, and high level of trust between the two countries.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung stated that Thailand continues to be Vietnam's leading economic partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The two countries have come close to achieving the target of USD 25 billion in bilateral trade and are aiming for an even higher goal. Ambassador Pham Viet Hung emphasized Vietnam's commitment to creating a transparent, stable, safe, and favorable investment environment for foreign investors, including those from Thailand. The willingness of Vietnam's top leaders to engage with and listen to Thai businesses is clear evidence of this effort.

Highly appreciating Thanh Hoa's outstanding advantages in terms of geographical location, integrated transportation and logistics infrastructure, and dynamic industrial ecosystem, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung stressed that this land of "exceptional people and rich history" is a very promising destination for Thai investors, especially as the two countries strengthen their cooperation, promote the "Three Connectivity Initiative," and share the goal of sustainable growth.

According to Mai Xuan Liem, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa, Thailand is an important export market for the province, with a turnover of over USD 12 million in the first five months of 2026. Several large Thai corporations, such as WHA and Charoen Pokphand (CP Group), are expanding their presence in Thanh Hoa.

Mai Xuan Liem believes that the potential for cooperation between Thanh Hoa and Thai partners remains large. He hopes to continue expanding cooperation between the two sides in key areas such as industrial park infrastructure development, energy, logistics, and port services associated with the Nghi Son Economic Zone. He also proposed promoting trade cooperation and supporting businesses in expanding export markets through modern distribution systems and trading platforms. In addition, he hopes to strengthen tourism cooperation, develop products suitable for the Thai market, and promote tour and route connections. Cooperation in high-tech agriculture, technology transfer, development of high-quality plant and animal breeds, deep processing, and the construction of green and sustainable agricultural models should also be promoted.

Mai Xuan Liem affirmed that Thanh Hoa always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for Thai investors to research, cooperate, and invest long-term in Thanh Hoa.

Within the seminar's framework, delegates listened to the opinions of Nguyen Minh Hai, representative of the business community of Thanh Hoa, who proposed several priority areas for cooperation and investment connections between businesses of the two sides.

Speaking to a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reporter, Voratat Tantinomkolsuk, Deputy Secretary-General of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC), expressed his impression of the presentations delivered by representatives of Thanh Hoa province and local businesses at the seminar. He noted that although Thanh Hoa has only accelerated infrastructure development in recent years, the province has already demonstrated preparedness for its next stage.

He highlighted that many Thai enterprises possess strengths in sectors prioritized by Thanh Hoa, including textiles, agriculture, and food processing.

As Deputy Secretary-General of the TCC, he would share information about Thanh Hoa's investment potential with the chamber’s members, encouraging them to explore cooperation opportunities with businesses in the province to realize their target industries.
