According to Nhan Dan Newspaper, Thai media noted that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s first official visit to Vietnam took place under special circumstances, immediately following the official visit to Thailand by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and State President To Lam, his spouse, and a high-level Vietnamese delegation in late May 2026.

Thai media described the visit as an important milestone that builds on the outcomes of recent high-level exchanges between the two countries. It also reflects the efforts of both Vietnam and Thailand to advance their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, particularly as the two nations celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand (1976-2026).

Thailand’s National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) reported on the activities conducted during the visit, including the meeting between General Secretary and State President To Lam and Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. According to NBT, during the meeting, the leaders of the two countries exchanged views on directions for future cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to further advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through existing cooperation mechanisms, including joint cabinet meetings.

NBT also highlighted the two sides’ agreement to promote the “Three Connects” strategy and strive to increase bilateral trade to more than US$25 billion. In addition to economic cooperation, the leaders agreed to strengthen collaboration in defense, security, investment, and other areas of mutual interest.

In its coverage of the official welcoming ceremony and talks between Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, NBT reported that the two leaders agreed to continue maximizing the effectiveness of existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms to make the Vietnam-Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership more substantive in the coming years.

According to Thai media, economic cooperation was a key focus of the talks. The two sides discussed supply chain connectivity, local economic cooperation, sustainable development, and measures to facilitate trade and investment. The two Prime Ministers also addressed expanding cooperation in combating transnational crime, maritime security, transport connectivity, and Mekong subregional development, while emphasizing the importance of ASEAN unity and regional connectivity.

Another notable topic highlighted by Thai media was cooperation in wildlife conservation, including Thailand’s transfer of red-crowned cranes to Vietnam. This area of cooperation carries significance for environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.

NBT also reported on the meeting between National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. The two sides discussed cooperation through legislative channels, including the implementation of the memorandum of cooperation between the House of Representatives of Thailand and the National Assembly of Vietnam, as well as enhanced exchanges between the two countries’ Friendship Parliamentarians Groups. They also addressed cooperation at regional and international parliamentary forums and the long-standing people-to-people ties between Vietnam and Thailand.

The Bangkok Post reported that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with representatives of numerous Thai businesses and investors operating in Vietnam in sectors such as agriculture, retail, finance, energy, manufacturing, and construction. During the meetings, the Thai Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations and supporting Thai investors in Vietnam.

According to The Bangkok Post, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that the economies of Vietnam and Thailand possess complementary strengths and should focus on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and supply chains. The Thai leader noted that Vietnam is playing an increasingly important role in global manufacturing supply chains, while Thailand has advantages in industry, services, logistics, and regional connectivity.

Also according to The Bangkok Post, during the visit, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents between Thai and Vietnamese corporations in the fields of smart industrial park development and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Representatives of Thai businesses noted that significant opportunities remain to expand their presence and strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese partners.

Regarding the third ASEAN Future Forum, The Nation reported that the event, hosted by Vietnam under the theme “Shaping Our Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, and People-Centered,” was attended by leaders from Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Timor-Leste.

The Nation cited Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s remarks at the opening session, in which the Thai leader praised Vietnam’s role as host and stated that the ASEAN Future Forum has become an important platform for countries to exchange views on the region’s future. He expressed confidence in ASEAN’s ability to respond to challenges and seize opportunities amid a rapidly changing regional and global landscape.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul emphasized that ASEAN should capitalize on its strengths in stability, connectivity, and trust to safeguard its centrality, promote peace and security, and preserve an open space for cooperation. According to him, resilience will serve as a key foundation for ASEAN’s future prosperity.

The Thai leader also stated that ASEAN should accelerate economic integration and connectivity in all dimensions, with the aim of delivering tangible benefits to its people. At the same time, the region should strengthen cooperation in disaster response, combating online fraud, investing in education, developing skills, enhancing public healthcare systems, and expanding social welfare.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul affirmed that Thailand stands ready to work with fellow ASEAN member states and partners to translate the shared vision into concrete outcomes.
