In the condolence book, Vice President Dong Huy Cuong wrote: "The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations is deeply saddened and profoundly moved by the devastating loss of life and property caused by the successive powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Government and people of Venezuela, the Embassy of Venezuela in Vietnam, the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity Among Peoples, the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship House, and especially to the families of the victims.

We firmly believe that, inspired by the spirit of Simon Bolivar and Hugo Chavez, together with the unity of the Venezuelan people and the support of the international community, Venezuela will soon overcome this painful tragedy, recover from the disaster, and restore normal life.

The Vietnamese people will always stand in solidarity with and shoulder to shoulder alongside the people of Venezuela.

We respectfully honor the memory of the victims and wish those who were injured a speedy recovery."

Sharing the grief of the Venezuelan people, Le Duy Truyen, Vice President of the Vietnam-Venezuela Friendship Association, wrote in the condolence book: "We are deeply saddened and profoundly moved by the severe loss of life and property caused by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship House, and especially to the families who lost their loved ones in this disaster.

We firmly believe that the heroic Government and people of Venezuela will soon overcome the current hardships and continue successfully building the homeland of Simon Bolivar and Hugo Chavez.

Once again, we reaffirm our profound friendship, brotherhood, and solidarity with the Government and people of Venezuela and the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship House."

The twin earthquakes measuring over 7.0 on the Richter scale that struck on June 24 caused exceptionally severe damage in the coastal state of La Guaira, Venezuela. According to figures released by Venezuela's Ministry of Information on July 5, at least 3,342 people were killed, approximately 16,700 were injured, and more than 17,000 people were left homeless and had to be evacuated to temporary tent camps.

Immediately after the earthquakes, Vietnam dispatched a 124-member search and rescue mission comprising personnel from the People's Army and the People's Public Security forces to Venezuela. Working alongside local and international rescue teams, the delegation has been engaged in search and rescue operations as well as post-disaster recovery efforts. As of July 5, the Vietnamese team had recovered a total of 57 bodies from the rubble. The delegation also carried out humanitarian activities, visiting and encouraging residents at temporary camps in Playa Grande (La Guaira State) and distributing essential supplies to support those affected by the disaster.
