Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Receives “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” Medal

Speaking at the ceremony, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son highly appreciated Ambassador Tibor Baloghdi’s contributions during his tenure in Viet Nam, particularly in promoting people-to-people exchanges and enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.
According to Phan Anh Son, since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1950, many generations of Vietnamese people have studied, lived, and worked in Hungary. Many Vietnamese regard Hungary as their second homeland.

Over the years, Viet Nam-Hungary relations have continued to develop positively across various fields. The two countries have maintained exchanges of delegations at all levels and strengthened cooperation in politics, economics, education and training, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Hungary is currently one of Viet Nam’s important partners in Central and Eastern Europe and is also among the countries providing the largest number of scholarships to Vietnamese students under bilateral cooperation programs.
The President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations noted that Ambassador Tibor Baloghdi possesses a profound understanding of Viet Nam’s history, culture, politics, and society. He is not only a friend but also an expert on Viet Nam. The Ambassador has actively supported and participated in numerous people-to-people diplomacy activities, helping to strengthen connections among friendship organizations, localities, and the peoples of both countries. During his tenure, he also made significant contributions to promoting Hungarian culture in Vietnam and advancing cultural and artistic exchanges as well as educational cooperation.
The “For Peace and Friendship Among Nations” Medal is a prestigious distinction awarded by the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations to both Vietnamese and foreign individuals who have made outstanding contributions to strengthening solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the people of Viet Nam and peoples around the world.
At the ceremony, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations leader expressed his confidence that, in his future assignments, Ambassador Tibor Baloghdi would continue to serve as an important bridge, contributing to the nurturing and development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Viet Nam and Hungary.

Expressing his emotion upon receiving the medal, Ambassador Tibor Baloghdi said that it was a great honor for him personally. He affirmed that Viet Nam-Hungary friendship is a valuable asset that must be nurtured every day. The Ambassador shared: “When I arrived in Viet Nam in 2023 to begin my tenure, I immediately recognized how wonderful the Viet Nam-Hungary Friendship Association was. There were many elderly members whose faces bore the marks of age, yet their affection for Hungary and Viet Nam has never changed.”
The Ambassador affirmed that he would always cherish the fond sentiments he holds for the country and people of Viet Nam and would continue contributing to the strengthening of friendship between the two nations in whatever position he may hold in the future.
