Palestinian Ambassador Saadi Salama Awarded "For the Cause of Culture, Sports and Tourism" Medal

Promoting People-to-People Exchanges Between Vietnamese and Palestinian Youth

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh congratulated Ambassador Saadi Salama on the successful completion of his diplomatic tenure in Vietnam and highly commended his contributions to strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Palestine, particularly in promoting cooperation in the fields of culture, sports and tourism.

The Minister emphasized that Vietna-Palestine relations are built on a foundation of solidarity, mutual trust and mutual support. She also expressed her sympathy for the cultural losses and the hardships the Palestinian people are enduring as a result of the ongoing conflict.

According to the Minister, throughout his tenure, Ambassador Saadi Salama carried out numerous initiatives to enhance cultural exchanges, foster mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, and promote Vietnam's country, people and cultural identity to the international community. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also acknowledged the active cooperation and support of the Embassy of Palestine in Vietnam in various cultural exchange programs organized by the Ministry.

Describing Ambassador Saadi Salama as a close friend of Vietnam, the Minister expressed her hope that, after completing his diplomatic mission, he would continue, in whatever capacity he serves, to contribute to promoting cultural, sports and tourism cooperation between the two countries.

Receiving the commemorative medal, Ambassador Saadi Salama expressed his honor and deep emotion at having his efforts to promote Vietnam-Palestine cultural exchanges recognized. He said the award was not only a personal distinction but also reflected the appreciation for the deep affection he has always held for the country and people of Vietnam.

The Ambassador shared that he first came to Vietnam in 1980 to pursue his studies and has devoted most of his life to the country ever since. Over the years, he has continuously sought to deepen his understanding of Vietnam's history, culture, customs and the daily lives of its people. His affection for Vietnam inspired him to conduct research, undertake translation work and write numerous publications introducing Vietnam's history, culture and people to the Palestinian people, the Arab world and the international community.

In addition, Ambassador Saadi Salama has actively participated in a wide range of people-to-people exchange activities, cultural events and heritage promotion programs, thereby contributing to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Palestine.
