Vietnam Showcases Its Culture at WTO Open Day 2026

As part of the Open Day 2026 program, the WTO headquarters opened its doors to the public to mark the 100th anniversary of the William Rappard Centre, the historic building that now serves as the organization's headquarters. The event offered residents and visitors an opportunity to explore the WTO's working environment, learn about its history and art collection, and take part in a wide range of cultural exchange activities held on the grounds overlooking Lake Geneva.

Vietnam's booth introduced visitors to the country's rich cultural heritage, tourism attractions, and traditional cuisine. Handicrafts, photographs, publications showcasing Vietnam's land and people, and a selection of traditional dishes rich in authentic Vietnamese flavors attracted considerable interest from international visitors. Many guests stopped to learn more and engage in conversations with members of the Vietnamese delegation about the country's culture, history, and tourism potential.
The opening ceremony of Open Day 2026 was held in the WTO Council Room, attended by WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, representatives of the Swiss Government, and ambassadors from WTO member states. In her remarks, Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala expressed her delight at welcoming a large number of visitors and highlighted the historical significance of the William Rappard Centre as well as its important role in the work of the WTO.

In addition to the cultural booths hosted by WTO members, the program featured a variety of activities, including guided tours in English, French, and Spanish, presentations of artworks, an interactive area for children, and activities introducing the history and development of the WTO.
Vietnam's participation in WTO Open Day 2026 helped showcase the country's unique cultural identity, strengthen exchanges with international friends, and promote the image of a dynamic and globally integrated Vietnam within the framework of the world's largest multilateral trading forum.
