Concluding the 11th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, delegations highly appreciated Vietnam’s successful fulfillment of its role as President of the Conference, acknowledging the President’s efforts in steering the conference and negotiating documents in the direction of enhancing transparency and improving procedures to increase efficiency and adapt to the new context.

On February 25, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York (United States), on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), the ASEAN Committee in New York organized a symposium under the theme: “The Contribution of the TAC as a Regional Framework under Chapter VIII of the United Nations Charter.” The Vietnamese delegation, led by Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Head of the Permanent Mission of Viet Nam to the United Nations, attended the event.

Amid mounting challenges to international security and growing concerns over the erosion of the global arms control architecture, Vietnam continues to play an active coordinating role by chairing a series of regional consultations aimed at fostering dialogue, building consensus, and making substantive preparations for the 2026 Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

Speaking at the Executive Board Meeting of UN Women held on September 9-10 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, affirmed that Vietnam is committed to working with international partners to ensure that women and girls are not left behind, particularly in emerging fields such as the digital economy and artificial intelligence.

Vietnam has pledged to further contribute to United Nations peacekeeping operations, with a focus on protecting local communities, supporting conflict resolution, and advancing international peace initiatives.

Vietnam has pledged to continue contributing to and actively participating in the process of promoting peace and post-conflict reconstruction in Gaza, thereby contributing to ensuring peace, stability, and sustainable development for the Palestinian people.

Speaking at the high-level open debates of the United Nations Security Council on July 22 and 24, Ambassador Do Hung Viet reaffirmed Vietnam's steadfast support for multilateralism and collective action led by the United Nations. He also called on all nations to abide by international law and resolve disputes, including those in the South China Sea (East Sea), through peaceful means.
