The President of Vietnam has decided to grant amnesty to 9,950 prisoners currently serving prison sentences who meet the conditions stipulated by law. The decision takes effect on June 1, 2026, reaffirming the Party and State’s policy of clemency and humanitarianism while creating opportunities for those granted amnesty to reintegrate into society.

On the occasion of the 80th National Day, the Vietnamese State President decided to grant amnesty to 13,915 inmates serving prison sentences and 5 individuals whose prison sentences had been temporarily suspended, who met the conditions for the 2025 amnesty.
